Press Release ![]() On behalf of the Starkville Area Arts Council, the Board of Directors expresses gratitude to John W. Bateman for his leadership and service as the first Executive Director of the organization. Bateman has led the organization through a critical time of growth and professionalization of operations, strategic planning, and revision of programs to poise SAAC for long-term growth and create visibility for the vibrant arts community here in Starkville. Bateman is leaving SAAC to pursue an exciting chapter after accepting admission into the School of the Art Institute of Chicago MFA Writing Program. Bateman will remain in position through the end of July as we ramp up our search process for a new executive director. Please join us in congratulating John W. Bateman!
