Introducing Second Feature Several days ago, "personal preference" first appeared as a feature here on the Starkville Area Arts Council Blog. What is "personal preference"? Well, other than the obvious, "personal preference" is the idea that various folks have opinions and views that may be similar or those perspectives may be vastly different; but all those preferences are what give us as a community some depth, some spice. We can choose to broaden our horizons by checking out each others' views, as seen thru the lenses that allow us to understand why they like what they do.
So the feature "personal preference" will highlight some of these preferences and encourage folks to search for that favorite and discuss what makes it their favorite. This can be a favored piece of art, style of art, or artist. This includes all types of art; music, dance, vocals, theater, visual art, sculpture, etc. Got it? Good! Share your artistic preferences. Tell me why you've chosen what/whom you have! Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks! So here we are, three weeks into May; meaning that this blog is three weeks old! I thought it'd be a great way to celebrate would be to announce two new features that we've added last week and will be appearing regularly right here, in the Starkville Area Arts Council's Blog. So you might want to add the page to your blog~roll or feed~alerts. Just sayin'. One feature is the Starkville's Stellar Kids column. A few days back, Lily Adam was named the first Starkville's Stellar Kid, with her fantastic accomplishment of designing the poster that was chosen for this year's Saris Parking ad campaign. This was not just for the school, which would have been cool. And not just for the state, which would have been impressive. This was for the NATIONAL pick. And that is Stellar. We want to feature not just our own SAAC sponsored events, but also include coverage of other artistic efforts in our area here in this blog. Starkville's Stellar Kids are creative and we think it's worth noticing their shining examples. So kudos to you, Lily! So if YOU think an area kid deserves to be spotlighted as a Starkville's Stellar, please let us know! Also, if there are events, programs, projects, groups, or artists that you would like to see here, let us know so that we can let the rest of our readership know too! Thanks!! Now, about the three young ladies pictured above; there will be separate entries forthcoming, highlighting each of them. Keep an eye out! |
