Starkville Area Arts Council's (SAAC) latest project, the SAAC Artist Store is launching with a Ribbon Cutting on August 31 at 11 am.
SAAC has expanded the store to allow space for 8 different local artists to sell their products in the SAAC office space at 122 East Main Street in Downtown Starkville. Artisans include a variety of disciplines, including are "traditional" artists, jewelry makers, ceramicists, and graphic designers.
The Ribbon Cutting will be Wednesday, August 31, at 11 am in the SAAC Office at 122 East Main Street. Artists in the Store will be there to talk about their work. Light refreshments will be served.
SAAC will also have various SAAC and Cotton District Arts Festival (CDAF) merchandise for sale, including vintage T-shirts, hats, bags, and poster prints. SAAC and CDAF will also be revealing this year's CDAF poster designed by Lizzy Jorgensen as part of one of Mississippi State University's graphic design classes. More information can be found on www.cdafestival.com.
The SAAC Artist Store will be open during SAAC's new public hours (Monday-Friday, 10 am - 2 pm, excluding Holidays).
Although spaces are filled for now, artisans may still submit applications to be reviewed when a current artisan's contract ends. Artisans can read specific rules and apply online through the SAAC website (www.starkvillearts.net/artiststore).
