Press Release Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview. The Starkville Area Arts Council is excited to announce the next exhibit in the Art in Public Places (AiPP) program featuring works by artist Rowan Haug.
The hybrid exhibit will be on display from January 11 to March 7, 2022, in the Partnership Lobby in Downtown Starkville and online on the SAAC website (starkvillearts.net/creativeeconomy). Haug is a quilter and an instructor in the Art Department at Mississippi State University, specializing in quilting, textiles, and fiber arts. The exhibit will feature a sample of Haug's abstract quilt pieces. "My work ... looks at traditional modes of quilt-making and what we traditionally think of as 'women’s work'," writes Haug. "Women’s work is a labor of love, it marks time in its every stitch. These stitches and seams tether me in time and place." Read more about Haug on the online exhibit page. The exhibit will kick off with an opening reception on Tuesday, January 11, from 5:30-7 pm in the Greater Starkville Development Partnership lobby in downtown Starkville. Catering provided by the Grill. Wine provided by SAAC. As part of SAAC’s AiPP series, works may be listed for sale. SAAC provides reception and publicity, handles the collecting and reporting of MS State Sales Taxes on behalf of the artist for any works sold while taking a substantially reduced commission (20% instead of 50% usually charged by galleries). The artist keeps 80% of the proceeds. Please contact SAAC for more information on purchasing works ([email protected]). #starkvillearts #ArtinPublicPlaces #aippshowcase #AiPP |
