Press ReleaseStarkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) is bringing back its business skills workshops in collaboration with the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council in Oxford (YAC) and the Mississippi Presenters Network (MSPN) and launching a new, joint workshop series: $kills for the Creative Economy. The first workshop, "How to Make Your Art Financially Stable" with Eric Hill of the MSU Center for Entrepreneurship & Outreach, will take place on Wednesday, September 16 at 5:30 pm via Zoom. In this first workshop, Eric will teach participants how to develop their business model and teach creatives how to transform their artistic passion into a profitable and sustainable endeavor. This workshop is FREE. Attendance is limited, so sign up soon! $kills for the Creative Economy will be a monthly workshop series for Mississippi creatives. Workshops will cover various topics on the business of art including sales taxes, the festival circuit, social media, and more. The Series is currently scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, other than December and July. The next $kills for the Creative Economy workshop will be on October 13, 2020. ABOUT the PRESENTER Eric Alan Hill is Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach (CEO) at Mississippi State University. Under his leadership, MSU’s entrepreneurial pipeline has grown more than threefold, launching more than 100 new startups annually and helping them raise nearly $1M private capital each year. Eric found his passion for technology startups at age 16 when he founded HillTech, a web solutions firm that grew to support clients in 15 states before acquisition after five years.
