Press Release Starkville Area Arts Council is excited to announce the development of its 25th Anniversary Art & Culture Cookbook. Formed in 1996, SAAC will celebrate its 25th Anniversary this next fall and is creating an Arts & Culture cookbook to memorialize Starkville and Oktibbeha County's unique arts history, culture, cuisine, and community... the Cotton District Arts Festival, Forks & Corks, and so much more.
The theme is simple: what represents Starkville's arts and culture? SAAC invites the community to share stories, history, and recipes. Whether a favorite memory from CDAF or Art in the Park or any other favorite cultural experience, it's welcome! What reflects Starkville's cultural heritage for you? Whether a resident, student, or former local, let us know! Is it an artist residency at the Noxubee Refuge? Listening to music over the best BBQ in Starkville? Tales about your favorite local Starkvillan artists or musician? What's your favorite architectural structure? Share on SAAC's website, www.starkvillearts.net/25thanniversary. The submission deadline is January 15, 2021. Funds from the sale of this book will support art and art education outreach in Oktibbeha County, including grants to other arts organizations and projects here in Starkville. Contact SAAC for further details at [email protected]. #starkvillecookbook #StarkvilleArts Press Release Sky, Marwa Safwat from AiPP WInter Showcase 2019 Starkville Area Arts Council is excited to announce that submissions for the next Art in Public Places Exhibit series, the Winter Showcase, are now OPEN. Media accepted include (and are not limited to) photography, painting, drawing and illustration, ceramic and three-dimensional works, fiber art, etc. Theme is open.
All submissions must be made via SAAC’s online portal. To access, visit www.starkvillearts.net and click on the “Submissions” button for all our active applications. The submission deadline is October 31. Space is limited, so no piece should exceed 48" in any one direction nor weigh more than 75 pounds. Works in previous AiPP shows may not be submitted again. Full submission details in the application. Works may be listed for sale. SAAC collects and pays sales taxes on behalf of the artist for any work sold. The artist keeps 80% of the proceeds. The hybrid show will be installed on November 30 in the lobby of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership and will also be featured as an online exhibit on SAAC's website.
