Artist Statement

Picture
Sabrina Campbell, fondly known as Mrs. Artsy, has been an Artist for more than 36 years, has devoted her life to celebrating diversity and educating students through her God-given talent. She believes that her talent is “Kirabo Mahaba,” God’s Gift of Love to her. As of September 22, 2019, all of her exhibitions, especially this one, are in Honor/Remembrance of her QueenAngel, her mother, Mrs. Callie Douglas-James, who is her true “Kirabo Mahaba,” who supported her artistic endeavors all of her life.

She coined two phrases with significant personal meaning to her:
  1. “Cornucopia of Cultural Delight” celebrates and appreciates the diversity God has created within this world. Each culture possesses an unlimited amount of creativity that is invaluable to society.
  2. “Art is the stART of Everything... Art is the beginning and the end of every creation, every element, and every human being on Earth. God uniquely makes us that one cannot compare to the other. Everything from speaking to dancing and thinking is artistic in every sense of the world.

Sabrina is an honor graduate of Mississippi State University with a BFA[Visual Arts/Graphic Design, MATS [Masters in Art Education], Ed.S, [Masters in Educational Administration], and from Belhaven University an EdD* [Doctorate in Educational Administration].

Sabrina has taught Visual Arts, studio arts, Graphic Design, screen printing, ceramics, Art Appreciation, and Art History for over thirteen years. She is the sole owner of Creativity At Its Best, LLC Art Studio in Starkville, MS.

As a Community Artist, she has worked with COCO and JL King Center, MS Golden Triangle Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Thetas of West Point, MS, and NAACP of Oktibbeha County. She continuously shares the beautiful world of art with students of all backgrounds as an outlet and an avenue of an inner sanctum. She has worked with various Art entities: Starkville Area Arts Councils, Arts in Public Places, Columbus Area Arts County, Prairie Arts Festival, and MS Arts Commission. Sabrina and her students at West Point High School assisted renowned Artist Debra Mansfield with painting the Mural at Zuber Park in West Point, MS.

With her daughter, Roniyah, they created/painted the Mural inside The Literacy Center at
Pecan Acres in Starkville, MS.
