Artist Statement

Picture
Bonnie Renfroe experiments with color, line, and form. Whether with glass, paper and pencil, or clay and glaze, color is the binding force. She is a studio artist, born and raised in Mississippi. At a young age, she apprenticed to her father, architect Harris Renfroe, and artists Karl and Mildred Wolfe. Her many experiences have given her a strong foundation for her art, based upon the importance of staying true to oneself in the studio and in life. As well as practicing her own art, Bonnie is an art partner, teaching children around Starkville at the public library and the JLKing Center. She is also a passionate drummer, facilitating local drum circles.

A collection of her clay pieces, including handmade drums and whistles, will be on display at the Starkville Area Arts Council’s new location, 122 E Main Street.

Works on display in-person until November 7, 2022.
