Stories of the Quilt Trail.
Heritage Museum Quilt
Our barn quilt design was inspired by the drill field at Mississippi State University and its surrounding buildings at the heart of campus. Since the forms in our design were complex, we decided to use the primary colors and their tints to simplify our barn quilt and provide immediate visual impact.
Community Market Quilt
Through our barn quilt research, we realized that we wanted to use the traditional formation of a quilt with a modern edge. As a group we chose gradation, repetition, and geometric lines to achieve the modernized quilt. Because we wanted to keep the color scheme simple but not simplistic, we made the decision to use only two colors that were inspired by nature.
Noxubee Refuge Eagle Quilt
Welcoming visitors to the Oktoc Road entrance of the Noxubee Refuge, the Eagle Quilt Square is both a symbol of our country’s heritage and a reminder of these proud birds that nest here year-round. Bald eagles are especially visible on the Refuge during their nesting periods in late winter and early spring. For more information about them, please stop by the Visitor’s Center.
