Why we're here
Created in 1996, the mission of the Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) is to build a strong, creative, connected community through the arts. All of our work, from the Cotton District Arts Festival to after-school programs and outreach, is guided by two fundamental principles:
- Art education builds well-rounded, creative problem solvers.
- Cultural growth leads to economic impact: art is a workforce development tool.

September Updates
September was quite a time, but we did it! Here’s a quick recap.
We wrapped up the final stretch of renovations, making sure the gallery was not only ready for the public but also prepared to accommodate our first AiPP exhibit in the new space—"Discourse" by Zoe Ishee. Our hard work did not go unnoticed as everyone seemed pleased with all the changes at the opening reception on the 28th. Once again, thanks to everyone who came out and made it special for Zoe and SAAC/Proof as a whole! On top of that, tickets for this year’s Halloween Thrifted Art Paint Party sold out—we can’t wait to see you all on October 12th! Plus, poster voting for CDAF 2025 kicked off at the end of the month. Stay tuned for more info. Overall, September was a game-changer. Out with the old, in with the new! |
