Press Release In Spring 2022, Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) was approved to receive their first national grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. As part of this American Rescue Plan grant, SAAC was finally able to secure larger office space and facility and have officially moved in as of July 1, 2022.
SAAC is launching their first project in their new space, the SAAC Artist Store. With a more significant Main Street presence, SAAC is looking to share this unique opportunity with artisans in town who would like to sell their artwork in a retail space. Artisans of all different disciplines are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to 2D artists, 3D artists, jewelry makers, ceramicists, candle makers, woodworkers, and everything in between. SAAC handles all sales, taxes, and payments to artists. "SAAC is excited to start a new project in our new space to provide artists with a unique retail experience for artisans in Starkville and Oktibbeha County," writes Juliette Reid, SAAC Program Coordinator. "Because this new project is at no direct cost to the artisan, other than the cost to make the product itself, this is a great alternative to expensive booth rental spaces that are not guaranteed any return for the Artist." Space is limited to 6 artisans at a time, and availability is first-come-first-serve. Artisans can read specific rules and apply online through the SAAC website (www.starkvillearts.net/artiststore). The SAAC Artist Store will be open during SAAC business hours (Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm, excluding Holidays). SAAC anticipates that the Artisan Store will be open for business starting September 1, 2022, before the first Mississippi State University football game on September 3, 2022. #starkvillearts #ArtsinStark #ArtistStore Press Release Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) is excited to announce that submissions are now OPEN for their annual Art in Public Places (AiPP) Exhibit series, the 2022 Annual Winter Showcase.
