Why we're here

Created in 1996, the mission of the Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) is to build a strong, creative, connected community through the arts. All of our work, from the Cotton District Arts Festival to after-school programs and outreach, is guided by two fundamental principles:
  1. Art education builds well-rounded, creative problem solvers.
  2. Cultural growth leads to economic impact: art is a workforce development tool.

Public Art Proposals - Call for Submissions

The Small Town Center, with help from the Starkville Area Arts Council, is developing a Public Art Plan for Starkville.  Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, this plan will establish a set of goals and objectives for the implementation of engaging and culturally relevant public art across the entire community. The project will also assist in the creation of 3 public art projects that will kick off the implementation of this Public Art Plan. We are looking for artists to submit proposals for public art projects for locations identified in application.

Read all about the project through the link below. Deadline to submit projects is Feb 10!
